Weeks ago, I couldn’t read because my mind was on #BankofDeposits.

I ought to be on my 8th book for 2016 but I had to make sacrifices to promote my book.

On Thursday, I resurrected my reading again because I’ve been able to map out the schedule for #BankofDeposits successfully.

My first port of call was my Book 3 for the year: The Book of Phoenix by Nnedi Okorafor. The book is greatly awesome and Nnedi is the queen, king and throne of literature – to me. Her descriptive prowess is top-notch.

Done with that, I’m now on No Easy Day: The Only First-hand Account of the Navy Seal Mission that Killed Osama bin Laden

It’s a first-hand account from the man who was one of the first men that walked through the door on the third floor of the terrorist mastermind’s hideout, where he witnessed Bin Laden’s death.

Mark opines that, “The events depicted in No Easy Day are based on my own memory. Conversations have been reconstructed from my recollections. War is chaotic, but I have done my best to ensure the stories in this book are accurate… it is time to set the record straight about one of the most important missions in US military history. Lost in the media coverage of the Bin Laden raid is why and how the mission was successful. This book will finally give credit to those who earned it.”

Few times, I’ve flirted with the idea of joining the military so that I could harness one of my emotions but I let it slide. For good. I’m better off as a writer with emotions than a military man who may (emphasis on may) lose his ability to feel if involved in combat over and over again.

This book was gifted to me on my birthday (January 9th) by my cousin just right about the time I was about to pay – I’m down memory lane now and this was my only birthday gift. LOL, doesn’t matter anyway.

Thanks to her, I can feast on this 336+ paged book for the next three to four days.

Before I run off, here’s this powerful quote I got from the book; it’s the Navy SEAL philosophy: “The only easy day was yesterday.”

Always remember this. Gun for your dreams and goals in 2016.
